1830 errichtete der Eisenwarenhändler Franz Sebastian Menn aus Koblenz an dieser Stelle eine Fabrik zur Herstellung von Dampfmaschinen, die 1834 die Firma Q.J. d'Ester aus Vallendar erwarb und die Geschäftsleitung an Freiherr Ferdinand von Bleul übertrug. Letzterer übernahm schließlich die Maschinenfabrik und Gusswarenhandlung insgesamt. 1848 lieferte das Unternehmen der Sayner Hütte ein dampfbetriebenes Gebläse und ersetzte damit das wasserbetriebene Hochofengebläse.

Am 24. März 1865 erwarb der Essener Stahlindustrielle Alfred Krupp vom Königlich Preußischen Bergfiskus die Sayner Hütte mit Oberhammer, Mülhofener Hütte und Erzgruben im Westerwald. 1872 kam die benachbarte Maschinenfabrik des Freiherrn von Bleul ebenfalls in seinen Besitz. Die Firma Krupp nutzte das Anwesen anfangs zur Montage und Reparatur von Maschinen und schuf durch eine Schmalspurbahn eine direkte Verbindung zum Gelände Sayner Hütte. Später wurden Räume für die Krupp'sche Bergverwaltung und eine Konsumanstalt eingerichtet.

Anlässlich der Geburt ihres Sohnes Alfried stifteten Bertha und Gustav Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach den Angestellten der Krupp'schen Werke ein Erholungshaus in Sayn. Zu diesem Zweck wurden die Vordergebäude der ehemaligen von Bleul'schen Maschinenfabrik umgebaut und mit einer Terrasse versehen, die restlichen Fabrikgebäude abgerissen und an deren Stelle eine Parkanlage angelegt. Bevor der Umbau begann musste ein Umzug der Maschinen in die neue, heute sog. Krupp'sche Halle bezeichnete Backsteinhalle auf dem Gelände der Saynerhütte durchgeführt werden. Das Krupp'sche Erholungsheim wurde am 21. Mai 1909 eröffnet: Auf der linken Seite befand sich die Verkaufsstelle der Konsumanstalt, rechts wurde ein großer Speisesaal eingerichtet. 42 Einzelzimmer standen Erholungssuchenden zur Verfügung, dazu mehrere Aufenthaltsräume, ein Musikzimmer und die große Gartenanlage mit Wasserbecken, Springbrunnen und wasserspeiendem Eisbär. Während des Ersten und Zweiten Weltkrieges diente das Gebäude als Lazarett.

1952 verkaufte Krupp die Anlage an die Stadt Bendorf. Im Eingangsbereich des Gebäudes sieht man in dem Oberlicht über der Tür immer noch das Markenzeichen der Firma Krupp, die "Drei Ringe".
