The marker is located near the intersection of William and Elgin Streets in Cobourg's north end.
It is in a small welcoming park, featuring a large Cobourg information kiosk, several benches, and a nicely manicured greens area.
The marker, in the "unfinished column" style, was originally erected, then dedicated in July, 1977. 2002 saw a second face engraved with the golden Jubilee. A third side has been "roughed", probably for the addition of the Diamond Jubilee.
