The beach would only be about 370 metres long, and the water drops off quite quickly, so it is not popular with casual swimmers. In fact, the Beach Safe website rates it 10, making it "NSW’s most hazardous beach."

There is a sign at the most likely entrance to the beach, just south of the dirt track out to Little Nobby [Head], from the local Council, which warns:
"Kempsey Shire Council advise that this beach is NOT PATROLLED AT ANY TIME and that DANGEROUS SURF CONDITIONS EXIST AT THIS BEACH."
Along with icons for: No Lifesaving Service here Today!; Strong Currents; High Surf; Slippery Rocks; and Submerged Objects.

So, if you are interested in rocks, especially water worn rocks, then this is the each for you. Otherwise, try the northern beach! Entry is FREE!

Access: Head out on Reserve Road, past Crescent Holiday Park, past the Surf Life Saving Club (which only patrols the northern beach), and park north of the caravan park. A concrete path heads past the Crescent Head National Surfing Reserve which abuts the Golf Course.
