The small church Saint Nicolas stands on the banks of the Ill, south of the city.
Originally Catholic, laid out on an ancient Roman site, remodeled several times in the fourteenth and seventeenth century, it moved to Protestant worship and then to Charismatic Renewal.
The charismatic movement or charismatic renewal, spiritual awakening or "neo-Pentecostalism", is a spiritual movement that appeared in 1960 within the so-called "traditional" churches.
Its architecture is simple, with its unique nave and its bell tower.
The Nobel Laureate Albert Schweitzer was pastor, and married the first President of the Federal Republic of Germany, Theodor Heuss.
