LUMA Arles comprendra un bâtiment ressource à l'architecture ambitieuse et innovante conçu par Frank Gehry, qui s'élèvera à 56 mètres. LUMA comprendra également six anciens bâtiments industriels et l'ensemble du campus sera situé dans un parc jardin.

Des maquettes, visibles à la Maison du Projet, située sur le site, présentent le futur visage de ce lieu. "Le projet de la Fondation LUMA au Parc des Ateliers est une tentative de penser et de créer une institution culturelle d'un genre nouveau." Maja Hoffmann, présidente de la Fondation LUMA. Le Parc des Ateliers est un projet culturel de dimension internationale porté par la Fondation LUMA avec le soutien du maire d'Arles Hervé Schiavetti, de l’ancien président du Conseil régional Michel Vauzelle, et du Ministère de la culture et de la communication de l'époque (Frédéric Mitterrand) et imaginé par l'architecte américain Frank Gehry, concepteur du musée Guggenheim de Bilbao. La rénovation des anciens bâtiments industriels du site a été confiée à l’architecte new-yorkaise Annabelle Selldorf. Au cœur d'un parc-jardin conçu par l’architecte-paysagiste belge Bas Smets, le nouveau bâtiment et les bâtiments d’origines formeront ainsi une véritable plateforme interdisciplinaire réunissant des espaces d’exposition, des espaces d’archives, des résidences d’artistes, un restaurant,... Ce complexe culturel s’intègrera au tissu artistique, intellectuel, écologique, social et économique d’Arles et de la Camargue. Les maquettes, présentées au grand public en juillet 2010, ont dévoilé un nouveau bâtiment conçu par Frank Gehry déjà intégré dans le panorama des monuments arlésiens.

A la Maison du Chantier, vous pourrez visiter « virtuellement » deux bâtiments: le nouveau bâtiment conçu par Frank Gehry et l’Atelier de la Mécanique, l’un des bâtiments industriels originaux rénové par Selldorf Architects. Des échantillons des matériaux utilisés pour la construction des bâtiments y sont présentés et les visiteurs pourront également admirer le site depuis une terrasse-panorama.
Pour des raisons de sécurité, la visite virtuelle n’est accessible qu’aux enfants âgés de plus de 13 ans.

The renovation of the old industrial buildings of the site was entrusted to the New-York architect Annabelle Selldorf. In the heart of a garden park designed by the Belgian landscape architect Bas Smets, the new building and the original buildings will thus form a real interdisciplinary platform bringing together exhibition spaces, archive spaces, residences and artists, a restaurant, ... This cultural complex will be part of the artistic, intellectual, ecological, social and economic fabric of Arles and the Camargue. Sign up for the Maison du Chantier's visits to the Parc des Ateliers and meet our team of mediators. Visitors will be invited to discover the history of the Parc des Ateliers and the challenges of the architectural and cultural project of LUMA Arles.
At the Maison du Chantier, you will be able to visit "virtually" two buildings: the new building designed by Frank Gehry and the Atelier de la Mécanique, one of the original industrial buildings renovated by Selldorf Architects. Samples of the materials used for the construction of the buildings are presented and visitors can also admire the site from a panoramic terrace.
For security reasons, the virtual tour is only available to children over 13 years old.
