Richard Mendenhall Store
1824
Richard Mendenhall built the store as an adjunct to his tanning business. His wares included general good and food items. During the 2th century the building served as a private residence and also housed a variety of stores and offices. The interior originally comprised two rooms on each floor. The brickwork is laid in Flemish bond and includes a corbelled cornice, created by setting the bricks at an angle. Features of a special interest included the paring of an inside and outside chimney, a doorway on the second floor on the back of the house, and an exterior fireplace.
