The concrete ramp has a low slope, but still has considerable grooves in it. The Boat Ramp is just upstream of Fitzgerald Bridge of Seaham Road, with the junction of Hunter River just a hundred metres the other side of the bridge.
There is a reasonable sized parking area suitable for cars with boat trailers next to the ramp. On the southern side of the ramp is a sandstone boulder, that looks like that at some stage it had a plaque attached.
There are a couple of Maritime signs just north of the ramp, outlining the Does, and Don'ts of the river.
