Bailey Park is named for a "Dedicated School Teacher who was conscripted into the Australian Army during the Vietnam War." [ex plaque for Dedicated Tree] The plaque on the small square stone beneath the mature liquid amber tree reads:
	       [Cessnock
		  City Council logo]
       BAILEY PARK
In recognition of Private Errol John Bailey
Born at Kurri Kurri District Hospital
8 May 1945 - Killed in Action in Vietnam
  13 May 1968. A Dedicated School Teacher
who was Conscripted into the Australian
       Army during the Vietnam War.
His name is listed on the
      Australian Vietnam Honour Roll.

Bailey Park is a well-maintained grassed narrow strip of land directly beside Cessnock Road, with unkempt bushland that backs onto the Hunter Valley railway line. The maintained part has a concrete walkway and cycleway running the length of it, that connects with similar parks on Cessnock Road.
