This sculpture is located at Sakura Grove on San Diego's Shelter Island. The accompanying sign informs us that:

"The bronze sculpture 'The Girl in Red Shoes' by Munehiro Komeno was presented to the citizens of San Diego by the citizens of Yokohama for eternal friendship and to commemorate the 150th Anniversary of the Yokohama Port Opening, June 2, 2009.

The work depicts a young Japanese girl, standing, wearing a skirt and hat, and holding a single rose in front of her with both hands.
