ROBERT KING BYRD
Served as 1st Lt., Co. C., 4th Tenn. Infantry in Mexican War. During Civil War he organized and was Col. of 1st Tenn. Infantry, USA. Later commanded brigade. Saw action in East Tenn., Battle of Stones River and in Atlanta campaign. Member of Union Party convention of 1865. State senator 1879. Owned land on which Harriman was later built.
