A long narrow metal sign is attached below the messages, which reads:
"This Peace Pole was dedicated on Friday November 1, 2002 by Great Lakes Deputy Mayor Jan McWilliams and Tuncurry Community of Christ Pastor Wendy Ballard. "There are nearly a quarter of a million Peace Poles in 180 countries around the world. Monuments dedicated to world peace, they serve as a constant reminder for humanity to visualise and pray for peace. This pole in Memorial Park links this community with people all over the world who have planted their poles in the same spirit of peace. "Every peace pole proclaims the same prayer in diverse languages. The languages used on this pole represent the ancestry of many people in this community: Worimi [local indigenous language], English, German, Dutch, Italian and Filipino. "Tuncurry Community of Christ, a church dedicated to the pursuit of peace, reconciliation and healing of the spirit, donated this monument and invites you to take a moment to offer own prayer for peace. "May Peace Prevail on Earth."
