The sanctuary dates back to at least the sixteenth century, a 1505 writing mentioning a guardian of the sanctuary enjoying benefits granted to his predecessors and which were to be maintained
This convent of the Congregation of Redemptorists, founded by Alphonse de Liguori, is also a place of pilgrimages to Notre Dame. "The pilgrimages to Our Lady of the Seven Sorrows stopped only during periods of wars or occupation, but were soon resumed, especially for the feast of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary.
The sanctuary is classified as a historical monument since 1965.
