About Mig-15
The MiG-15 was one of the first successful jet fighters to incorporate swept wings to achieve high transonic speeds. In combat over Korea, it outclassed straight-winged jet day fighters which were largely relegated to ground attack roles, and was quickly countered by the similar American swept-wing North American F-86 Sabre. The MiG-15 is often mentioned, along with the F-86 Sabre, as the best fighter aircraft of the Korean War, and among the best fighter aircraft of all time.

When refined into the more advanced MiG-17, the basic design would again surprise the West when it proved effective against supersonic fighters such as the F-105 Thunderchief and McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II in the Vietnam War of the 1960s.

The MiG-15 is believed to have been one of the most widely produced jet aircraft ever made; in excess of 12,000 were manufactured. Licensed foreign production may have raised the production total to over 18,000.

The crash occurred during a group flight, the pilot J. Zboril has lost visual contact and orientation. Then he lost control of the plane.

K letecké katastrofe došlo dne 24. zárí 1957. Dvojice letounu Mig-15, pilotovaných inspektorem pilotáže majorem Jaroslavem Vrbou a starším letovodem LU majorem Josefem Zborilem odstartovala v 07,10 hodin z letište Cáslav k nácviku slétanosti ve dvojici. Pri letu ve výšce 4000 metru provedl major Zboril, letící na císle, v pravé zatácce preskupení z levé strany na pravou. Preskupení provedl následkem oslnení sluncem bez rozkazu vedoucího. Manévr neprovedl presne a dostal se pred vedoucího. V dusledku toho s ním ztratil kontakt a rádiem volal, že ho nevidí. Zvýšil rychlost a pokracoval v prímém letu pod kurzem 140°. Vedoucí, které své císlo videl pokracoval v letu za ním, radiem mu dal pokyn tocit zatácku do prava. Major Zboril rozkaz neslyšel a opakoval znovu hlášení, že vedoucího nevidí. Behem letu zvýšil rychlost na 900km, takže se vedoucímu nepodarilo k nemu priblížit. Po trech minutách letu provedl major Zboril zatácku doprava, kterou ukoncil v klesání 20-30° pod kurzem 360°, což byl kurz na letište. Po priblížení se k horní hranici mraku, letoun srovnal. V tomto okamžiku uvidel pred sebou díru v mracích, kterou chtel provést sestup pod mraky a návrat na letište. Pri prevedení letounu do prostoru mezi mraky nepocítal s velkou rychlostí, nestacil provést zatácku mezi mraky a vlétl do mraku. Let v mracích podle prístroju nezvládl, dostal se do nezvyklé polohy, kterou se mu po vylétnutí z mraku nepodarilo srovnat a narazil s letounem do zeme v katastru obce Šimanov.
