Po stavovském povstání a behem tricetileté války doznalo okolí Cectic velkých škod. Rod Strelu z Rokyc vlastnil Cechtice do bitvy na Bílé hore, kdy jim byly za úcast na stavovském povstání roku 1622 zkonfiskovány. Mestecko poté získal rod pánu z Halleweilu (také Hallwyl, nebo Hallwil) pocházející ze Švýcarska.
Jan Šebastián hrabe von Halleweil nechal v Cechticích vybudovat v letech 1656 až 1658 zámek.
Rod z Halleweilu je rovnež zminován v souvislosti s pyšelským panstvním.
