The plaza is a small square located in the center of downtown Orange. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The plaque says, "The orange plaza boundaries were established by the first survey of the site of Richland. A gift to the town, by A. B. Chapman and Andrew Glassell, has been the focal point for local festivals and activists for over 100 years. After determined efforts to make it a square were defeated in 1886, the first fountain (now in Hart Park) was placed here through the fundraising efforts of the women of orange."
