A representation of the Isle of Man to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, Lord of Man.
This representation of the Isle of Man is made from a number of 'flat' stones (mostly Manx Slate) mounted on a rectangular stone block which can be found outside the Ramsey Youth Centre on Waterloo Road in the town.
There is a small gold-coloured plaque with the installation which has the following text:
'PRESENTED TO
ISLAND SCHOOLS TO CELEBRATE
THE GOLDEN JUBILEE
OF HER
MAJESTY THE QUEEN
LORD OF MAN.'
The installation commemorates the Golden Jubilee (50 year reign) of Queen Elizabeth.
Her Majesty amongst other titles is known as Lord of Mann. This title dates to 1405 when the English King Henry IV gave the Isle of Man with all its rights to Sir John Stanley. The Stanley family ruled the Island for 360 years until George III assumed the Lordship which has passed down the Royal line to Queen Elizabeth.
