The Wilcox Soldiers' Monument was funded by Colonel Vincent M. Wilcox and honors officers and enlisted men from Madison who served in the the Revolutionary War, War of 1812, and Civil War. The monument was sculpted by Heinrich Manger and dedicated in July 4, 1896.
A 20' high monument contains a life size bronze statue of a union soldier in full uniform standing with his left foot forward at parade rest. He is wearing a long overcoat and a cape. He is holding a rifle vertically with both hands on the barrel, left over right. A bayonet is suspended from his belt by his left hip. The soldier stands on top of a granite obelisk which is set on a square base.
