Above the clock is a brass Rising Sun crest of the Australian Imperial Forces (AIF).

The charcoal coloured marble plaque beneath the copper sheathed clock in the covered portico of the 'Old Bangalow Post Office' entrance reads:

"Erected by the Bangalow
Sub Branch of the R.S.S.I.L.A.
in memory of their Fallen Comrades
in the Great War 1914-1918."

The interesting thing about this clock face is, that in stead of numbers, the TWELVE letters of "LEST WE FORGET" are used; starting with the "L" at the 10 o'clock position, and the "S" of 'Lest' at the 12 o'clock position!

The Clock and Memorial Plaque are above the Postal Boxes, in a covered portico facing Byron Street.
