"Radioteleskop Effelsberg

"Radio Telescope Effelsberg

As in a science fiction film, the antenna of Effelsberg's radio telescope rises out of the valley of the Effelsberg brook as a huge bowl with a lattice edge. With a diameter of 100 meters, the Effelsberg Radio Telescope is one of the world's largest fully mobile radio telescopes.

Since 1972, the Max Planck Institute of Bonn University receives signals from space. It is constantly working to improve its technology, making it one of the world's most advanced telescopes. Among other things, the telescope is used to observe pulsars, cold gas and dust clouds, star formation areas, black holes and nuclei of distant galaxies.

The viewing platform gives you a view of the radio telescope. Three theme trails with descriptions of astronomical objects have been set up in the immediate vicinity of the radio telescope Effelsberg.
