The plaque on the bridge reads:

'THE NATIONAL TRUST
CHISELCOMBE BRIDGE

This bridge was built from public subscriptions
to the North Devon and West Somerset Flood
Relief Fund after the destruction of the
ancient bridge in the flood of 15 August 1952.
It was declared open by The Earl Fortescue K.G.
22 September 1957'

The Watersmeet paths run on either side of the river and make a wonderful riverside walk.
