Trinity Church traces its origins in Colborne to 1846, when the building was consecrated. It served the local congregation faithfully, until dwindling numbers - the bane of churches everywhere - and increasing infrastructure costs forced the diocese to close this, and several other parishes across the region.

The last service was held 12 June, 2012, when the property was deconsecrated. About 40 parishioners attended that final service.

The nearby cemetery hosts the gravesite of William McMurray, the founder and namesake of Alberta's Fort McMurray. The remains of Canon John Davidson, who died in 1892 while serving the church, are buried on the front lawn.
Year built or dedicated as indicated on the structure or plaque: 1846
