This crumbled newspaper sculpture is one of local Seattle artist Anita Fisk's remaining sculptures. In 1980 she created six (or seven, depending on the source) original pieces in a series titled Reality Relics. They were installed in 1981.
Most were everyday items that we discard or take for granted: a workman's glove dropped on the ground, a paper lunch sack left on a park bench, a couple of library books left behind, and a beer bottle. Two of the art pieces were whimsical memories of childhood: Space Cards (childrens' collectible cards) and The Wicked Witch Shoes.
Only four of the sculptures remain. The whereabouts of the sack lunch, beer bottle, and witch's shoes are unknown.
