The South Beach at Ramsey is a sandy beach which slopes gently down to the sea and is surprisingly quite even at the height of summer.
The south beach at Ramsey is just a few minutes from the town centre and is bordered to the south by the Victorian Queen's Pier and on the north by one of the stone breakwaters which guard the entrance to the towns commercial harbour.
Access to the beach is from Queen's Promenade and can be gained either by way of some steep concrete steps or by using the lifeboat 'slipway' at the northern end of the beach.
The beach is part of the Ramsey Bay Nature Reserve which in turn is part of the Isle of Man UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. (
