"Franz Georg Weckbecker zog später nach Münstermaifeld, wurde dort Ehrenbürger. Eine Tafel zeigt dies heute noch an. Man nannte ihn den Moselkönig oder König des Maifeldes. Er ist dort hochbetagt gestorben und muss wirklich nach damaligen Verhältnissen sehr reich gewesen sein, nicht nur an Kindern, sondern ihm gehörte auch eine ganze Anzahl von Gütern und Schlössern, so die Burgen Pyrmont und Burgbrohl. Als ihm die Steuern zu hoch wurden, liess er die Burg Pyrmont zur Hochzeit seiner Tochter Katinka mit dem französischen Grafen anzünden. Als Friedrich IV von Preussen bei ihm zu Besuch war und dies bei einer Rundfahrt erfuhr, sagte er: "Wenn ich das gewusst hätte, wäre ich nie bei diesem Barbaren abgestiegen." Im übrigen ist ein Zweig der Weckbecker mit Johann Peter Weckbecker 1802 nach Österreich gegangen, und von diesen Weckbecker stammt die Großmutter von Paul von Schiller ab.
