The Sundial Society's website has the following information about this Sundial:
"The dial is at the entrance to the churchyard. It is mounted on circular stone column 800mm high. The gnomon is missing. The corners of the square dialplate are chamfered at 45 degs. Shows 3am to 9pm in half and quarter hours. Radial lines mark hours and a broad zigzag design around circumference provides a 32 point compass with the major eight points having double lines."
The dial is made of slate and set atop a red sandstone pillar built into the wall of the churchyard. The face is very disfigured by people scatching their names and initials on to it.
The inscription on the dial is as follows:
“A gift of Patt Brew to Jurby Church 1757”. Records indicate major repairs to church in 1757." and "Latitude 54 d 24 m"
