The year 1913 is atop this small, but colourful building in Hong Kong Island. Surrounded by larger and taller buildings it harks back to the "goog old days" of the Island when the Union Jack waved supreme.
The building began life in 1892 as a humble cold storage facility. It was extensively refurbished in 1913 into the form seen today. It is now a cultural landmark. Easy to spot, but quiet a hike up the steep hills of the Island.
from Wikipedia:
The Fringe Club (Chinese: ???) is a not-for-profit arts organisation whose mission is to help emergent artists get started, promote Hong Kong artists abroad through cultural exchange and overseas touring, and conserve and invigorate Hong Kong cultural heritage. It is provides rent-free contemporary arts space for exhibitions and performances. It is located in 2 Lower Albert Road, Central District. It is housed in a Grade-I heritage building, the old Dairy farm cold storage depot, built circa 1892 in a late Victorian eclectic style. The facade of this building is distinguished by its "blood and bandages" brickwork.
