This beautiful oak tree was planted in 1925 by the five North Carolina chapters of the Daughters of the American Revolution in honor of Washington's visit to Charlotte in May 1791.

Small monument of gray granite with a plaque marks the tree, and reads as follows:

"This oak tree was planted in honor of the visit of General George Washington to Charlotte, NC, May 1791
by the North Carolina D.A.R. 1925
[DAR logo]
this tablet was placed in honor of the bi-centennial birth of George Washington
by the five D.A.R. chapters,
Charlotte, NC, 1932"
