This stately mansion hides a creepy secret -- the owner died inside in 1910!
The Bagley-Mullen House is located at 129 N Poplar Street in the fourth Ward district of Charlotte. A plaque at the front of the house reads as follows:
"Circa 1895
THE BAGLEY-MULLEN HOUSE
This site was, in part, formerly the location of three tenement houses known as Fox's Row. In 1892 Mr. Edgar M. Andrews, an undertaker and furniture/piano merchant, purchased the land and built this Queen Anne style home. In March 1895 Mr. Andrew J. Bagley, an employee of the railroad, purchased the home as the original resident. In 1897 he sold the house to Walter N. Mullen, a bit of a medicine man known for his invention of the "Hornet's Nest Liniment." Mr. Mullen died inside the house in 1910. Descendents of the Mullen family sold the house to the Charles H. Liquor insurance company in 1946.
