Thurstaston Beach is the first beach along the Wirral's western coast, on the Dee estuary. It has a wide sandy margin at the top backed by subsiding clay cliffs, but a short distance out the shore becomes a mix of sand and mud.
Station Road is a lane from Thurstaston village that leads to a (free) car parking area next to the Wirral Way cycle path and close to Thurstaston Visitor Centre.
Access to the beach is a short walk from the end of Station Road along a footpath on the right that leads to the wooden steps down the cliff to the beach.
The area above the beach is mostly parkland (The Wirral Country Park) facilities include a snack bar, picnic tables, toilets and a visitor centre.
Dogs are allowed at all times and there are notices advising against swimming at this beach.
