Kermit M. Anderson (1902 - 1987), known affectionately as "CUB" was a beloved coach at L'Ouverture High School. This school was a black high school during the says of segregation. Its ruins stand across the street from this monument. The high school had graduating classes from 1910 to 1968.

The alumni of this school placed this monument in 2004 in honor of their well-loved faculty member. The granite monument stands behind a granite bench engraved "LHS Alumni / Dedicated 2004". The monument reads: LHS / "Cub" / Coach Kermit M. Anderson / A teacher, coach, counselor, mentor, sponsor and friend / One of L'Ouverture's all-time greats." Engraved are sketches of a football and basketball.
