This beautiful memorial to the Firemen of Charlotte, NC was placed by the volunteer and, after 1875, the city-employed firemen of Charlotte in the late 19th century. The memorial was erected in honor of members of the fire service who perished fighting fires in the city, and is topped with a representation of a fireman.
The monument reads as follows:

As a lasting tribute to thier dead comrades.
