The trail follows Onion Creek as it meanders towards McKinney Falls State Park, just on the other side of East William Cannon Drive. The trail starts Trailhead kiosk. There is an overlook of Onion Creek but the trail head south parallel to the creek.

he trail surface is packed dirt, so things could get a little muddy after a good rain.

From the kiosk head left toward Onion Creek. Before you reach the creek you will see a trail with a gate. This is the start of the greenbelt.

Although the trail runs parallel to the creek, the creek is not visible from the trail.
