[FR] Église Saint-Michel, située en face de l'Abbaye de Fontevraud, dans le village de Fontevraud l'Abbaye (Maine-et-Loire).
D'abord chapelle, l'église St-Michel est devenue paroissiale, avec un curé nommé par l'abbesse de Fontevraud, choisi parmi les moines de St-Jean de l'Habit.
Elle a été construite, vers 1170, pour les besoins de la nombreuses main-d'œuvre séculière de l'abbaye.
C'est l'abbesse Audeburge qui en décida la construction avec le financement de Henri II Plantagenêt et Alienor d'Aquitaine.
Le chœur et la dernière travée sont voûtés dans le style gothique angevin.
Elle a été agrandie au XVème puis au XVIIème siècle.
Le porche et la galerie extérieure ont été construits au 17ème. Deux médaillons sculptés près d'une clé de voute du chœur représenteraient le couple royal Aliénor d'Aquitaine et Henri II Plantagenet.
L'édifice est classé au titre des monuments historiques en 1955.

First chapel, the Church of St. Michael became parish, with a priest appointed by the Abbess of Fontevraud, chosen from the monks of St. John of the Habit.
It was built around 1170, for the needs of the many secular work force of the abbey.
It is the Abbess Audeburge who decided the construction with the financing of Henri II Plantagenêt and Alienor of Aquitaine.
The choir and the last span are vaulted in the Gothic Angevin style.
It was enlarged in the 15th and 17th centuries.
The porch and the outer gallery were built in the 17th century. Two medallions carved near a key vault of the choir represent the royal couple Aliénor of Aquitaine and Henry II Plantagenet.
The building is classified as a historical monument in 1955.
