The body of Kenneth Richards, 26, was found in the harbour below the Swing Bridge in Ramsey just before 8 am on Thursday 26 November 2010 after a search lasting several hours.
At that time it was reported that the police, HM Coastguard and the Isle of Man Fire and Rescue service had all attended the scene. A police spokesman said that enquiries were continuing but the death was not believed to be suspicious.
The Inquest into the circumstances of the death was opened on 1st December 2010. The cause of death was given as salt water drowning while intoxicated. The Coroner Mr Alastair Montgomerie expressed his sympathy to Kenny's family and released his body in order that funeral arrangements could be made.
