Texas Historic Sites Atlas

Built in 1888, the jail is an expression of the late 19th century architectural tradition of the local government and remains an early link with the county history. The building is a two-story, rusticated stone building with an irregular massing of rectangular blocks. The ornamentation is restricted to quoins, stilted arched lintels and a crenellated parapet. Across the west (main) facade is a one-story, frame gallery with Victorian trim. The building is embellished by quoins and a crenellated parapet.
