History of the Roman Catholic parish Nedakonice

On September 30, 1903, the unity of St. John the Baptist was founded in Nedakonice. Cyril and Methodius ", which had the task of building a church and a barracks in the village, thus separating from the parish of Polešovice, where the village was subject. The construction of the church was to be financed by the donations of the believers. By the beginning of the First World War, 20,000 golden crowns had been collected, which, after the outbreak of the war, were subscribed for war loans. After losing the war it was necessary to start again and in 1920, with the help of Dr. Antonín Stojan, the province of Kromeríž, donated the Catholic Supporting Association to the unity of the old mills and the building of the church. Projects for the construction of the church were elaborated by architect Stanislav Kucera from Brno.

In the spring of 1932 the building of the church began and the church and the parish building were consecrated on 21 October 1934. The church was consecrated to St. Florian. The construction of the two buildings required a cost of 265 257.- then the crowns. The lands under the parish building and the adjacent garden had to be bought by the Nedakonic citizens and paid the monastery in Velehrad for land of 16 000 CZK. In December 1934, the assembly approved the construction of a cemetery, and the cost of building a cemetery, including the land, amounted to CZK 29,000. Thus, the village of Nedakonice could become an independent parish already independent of the Polešovice parish. The Nedakonice parish was founded only in 1941. The church facilities like a bench, organ, robes and other worship services required additional financial costs of CZK 87 446.-

In 1963 the facade of the church and parishes were repaired. In 1972, new bells were consecrated, with a larger Cyril weighing 150 kg and a smaller Methodius weighing 80 kg.

In 1984, the facade of the entire church was restored, including the roof and duct repairs, and an electric heating stove was installed to store the storms of the church. Now the church is tempered by a heat pump, because the heat pump was subsidized.
