At the top left of the sign is the following paragraph, giving the reason for the naming of this high point:
"Johns Hill reserve is named after a Welsh settler by the name of John Johns, who purchased a property on the ridge above Menzies Creek in 1878. By the beginning of the 20th Century, his butter and cheese was well known in the district."
Below that is a line drawing of the neighbouring Johns Hill Trigonometric Station, below which it states "You are here", and gives the Coordinates of the trig point. [S37° 54' 43" E145° 25' 03"]
Then, in the centre of the sign is a Sector Diagram/Orientation Table, that shows the relationship of this trig, to other trigs that were used to create a series of maps of the area. In the centre of that diagram is the "You are here" shown as the main diagram.
