The author of this piece, as well as the date of its creation remain unknown, as it is not signed and the church offers no information on it. It is, however, included in the
Smithsonian Art Inventories Catalogue. There, the only words of description are: "
Jesus Christ stands with both arms outstretched at his sides. He is dressed in a long garment.".
The medium appears to be white marble which stands on a five foot tall round plinth of mortared rough cut granite stones. The statue is somewhat larger than life size, possibly eight feet in height. Statue and plinth are centered in a small round bed with plantings all around. In front of the statue is a light to illuminate the statue at night.
Just east of the corner of North Ninth Street & East Indiana Avenue, the statue faces south toward East Indiana Avenue, directly in front of the entrance to the Redemptorist Mission House.
