Jessie Carr was born on 3 June 1914 in Cape Fair, and grew up on a farm. In 1933 she married Orie L. Henson (1914-2009), who was 4 months her junior. They had one child.

They moved to Boise, Idaho, where they lived 40 years until Orie's retirement, at which time they moved back to this area of the Ozarks. Orie lived a long life, passing away when both he and Jessie were 94 years old. Jessie continued on another 6 years, passing away less than one month under 101 years old.
