Joseph Menard was born on 28 January 1889 in Crane, which is also in Stone County. He married Adele M. Menard (1897-1973), who was about 8 years his junior. They had one daughter, whom they also named Adele.

Wife Adele died when Joseph was about 84 years old, but she is buried all the way across the state in St. Louis County. Joseph continued on another 16 years and is not buried with his wife, but is buried here in Cape Fair. As his FindAGrave record calculates, he was 100 years, 2 months and 22 days old.
