North Queensferry is a small town on the northern shore of the Firth of Forth in the shadow of the Forth Bridge. The war memorial is situated on the main route in the town and was built in 1921 to commemorate the local men who lost their lives in the Great War.
It is built in the style of an obelisk to a design by Mr H Motion in granite mined from the local Carlingnose Quarry. It is 13 feet high on a three feet square base. It was unveiled on June 19th 1921 by Field Marshall Sir William R Robertson, at the time, Lord Lieutenant of Fife.
It can be found on the main B981 road in the town between the Forth road and rail bridges. The main south face of the memorial is adorned with a cross, and underneath is a bronze panel with raised lettering containing 28 names from World War. On the base is another bronze panel added after World War II containing 10 names.
