The Taylor monument was erected in 1905 by John Taylor of London, in memory of his two sons Ernest, who died in Perth from an illness and Peter, who died after being speared by aborigines in the Kimberley. The memorial was built by Dalton and Co in England and shipped to Fremantle in crates and re-erected close to where it now stands.
