Standing about 3 metres high, near the taller War Memorial Monument, is the four-sided, grey granite, tapering Clock Tower. It has two clock faces placed almost at the top of the column. They were both running on time when I was there.
While these are 'branded' clocks, I was unable to make their providence. They have a white background, with a black covering ring for the perspex cover. There are four Arabic numerals at the appropriate places (3, 6, 9 and 12), with five minutely ticks. The clock hands are black, parallel-sided, with a slightly acute point. On the southern side, almost at the top is a metal door/hatch, to access the inside for maintenance.
At the base of one side of the Town Clock is a polished black marble tablet, with the following gilded inscription:
"In memory of those who
paid the Supreme
Sacrifice in the
1939-45 War
Korean War
Vietnam War
and other Wars
'Lest We Forget'"
