A sculpture of a soldier on patrol in Afghanistan honors all those who have volunteered, wounded of died while serving. The life size bronze sculpture depicts a soldier of the Royal Newfoundland Regiment. He is standing on a bronze plinth on a square granite base in which is embedded two forget-me-not flowers. The soldier is shown in full combat dress. He is wearing a helmet, protective jacket, trousers and combat boots. He is holding the barrel of an an automatic weapon in his left hand and has his right hand near the trigger of the weapon. This realistic depiction a Royal Newfoundland Regiment Soldier on patrol in Afghanistan was created by Morgan MacDonald in 2012.
A bronze plaque attached to the base of a nearby flagpole is inscribed:
