L.M. Ridout opened Denison’s Star Theater in 1912. The Interstate Theatres chain took the Star Theater over in 1932 and changed its name to the State Theater in 1948. Overall the theater had a long run and closed January 1962.
Ivanhoe Ale Works Website
Ivanhoe Ale Works opened in May 2015 in this building at 220 W. Main Street. It was formerly a movie house knows as the Star (1913) and later the State Theater (1948). It has a new roof and a new floor but the exposed brick beams and more are a reminder that this is a place with some history.
