From the guidebook on page 675, "Glacier Point (7,214 alt), 16.1 m (hotel, restaurant), commands the climax of all Yosemite Views. From the top of the cliff beside Overhanding Rock (L), Yosemite Valley lies 3,254 feet below. The Merced Rover winds in a thing silver course though the deep green of the meadows and forests, which startlingly resembles a well-kept park in the midst of wild crags and mountains. Automobiles look like crawling beetles, and human beings are hardly visible."

It is located on the south wall of Yosemite Valley at an elevation of 7,214 feet (2,199 m), 3,200 feet (980 m) above Curry Village. The point offers a superb view of several of Yosemite National Park's well-known landmarks including Yosemite Valley, Yosemite Falls, Half Dome, Vernal Fall, Nevada Fall, and Clouds Rest."
