The memorial to Bishop Rowley Hill D.D in the church of St. Bridget in the village of Bride.

The square memorial is displayed as a diamond and has the following inscription:
In Memory of
ROWLEY HILL. D.D.
Bishop of Sodor and Man
Born Feb 22nd 1836
Consecrated Aug 24th 1877
Entered into rest May 27th 1887.

The memorial has an attractive border and above the inscription is a red cross, while at the base is the Coat of Arms of the See of Sodor and Man. Within the inscription is a representation of a bishop’s mitre.

The Arms of the See of Sodor and Man are blazoned: Argent (Silver), upon a pedestal the Virgin Mary with her arms extended between two pillars ,in the dexter hand (Righthand), a church proper, in base the arms of Man in an escutcheon (a shield).

Rowley Hill was born in Ireland on 22 February 1836, the son of the Third Baronet Hill, Sir George and Elizabeth Sophia Rea.

When Hill was consecrated Bishop of Sodor and Man he was the youngest bishop in the Anglican Communion. He was nominated for bishopric by Queen Victoria on 9 August 1877 and noted on the memorial tablet was consecrated on 24 August 1877.

Hill worked hard during his time as Bishop to place the Manx Convocation on a more professional footing and to revitalise church life on the Island.
