Glen Prosen is one of the Angus glens that eat their way north-westwards into the foothills of the Grampian Mountains in eastern Scotland. Two narrow minor roads head up the glen on high ground on either side, before meeting halfway up the glen. The road on the eastern side, after three miles, reaches an offshoot of another glen called Glen Cally, and just before a hairpin bend in the road, crosses the Burn of Glencally.
Appearing on the earliest Ordnance Survey maps in 1846, the bridge was rebuilt in 1898. It is rubble-built with a semi-circular arch. Later buttresses flank the archway and the low parapet is coped with squared rubble. The bridge takes its name from the nearby farmstead of Buckhood which is a few hundred yards along the road from the bridge.
