Modern interpretation of the 'Digger' style memorial. The structure displays two bronzed figures; an Australian Infantryman and a South Vietnamese Infantryman of the 1960's era, signiying the unity between the two forces in the conflict. The symbolism also exends to the unity that can be witnessed between the current Australian and vietnamese peoples in Queensland in 2009.
The two figures are supported by a large plinth, which displays plaques on four sides:

Front -Memorial title and map of North and South Vietnam

Rear - Dedication plaque to the formation of the memorial in cooperation between the RSL and Australian and Vietnamese Veteran's Groups.

Left and Right - Dedications to the Australian and vietnamese personnel who served and/or died during the conflict.

The memorial is set adjacent to the Rats of Tobruk Memorial and Gallipoli Memorial, within the corner of the parklands.

Unveiled by the Premier and Deputy-Premier of Queensland on the 16th September 2005. The work was organised by the Australian-Vietnamese Memorial Building Committee and the State Branches of the RSL, VVAA, VVFA, and South Vietnamese Veterams. It was supported by both Australian and Vietnamese people, internationally.
