The six-inch square tiles are arranged in a long line in the concrete wall of the
Hult Center for Performing Arts forming a repeating pattern. Each tile depicts a face expressing melancholy, happy, calm and surprise.
From the Smithsonian Art Inventories Catalog description:
Series of faces, that repeat around the outside wall of the concert hall. These faces depict four different moods: melancholy, happy, calm and surprise. Each face wears earrings, a hat and a collar, possibly made to look like African tribal attire. Each tile has two faces that oppose each other along the vertical axis, making a reflection-like image.
The tiles can be seen as a stripe in the concrete wall in Google Street View.
Somehow, I missed spotting the plaque.
